Salvation!
We
have loved having a young mom come for the last few months. She started
coming to church because she has a foster daughter and was told that if her
daughter wanted to go to a church, she should try to do it.
Thankfully
one of our members works with her and invited her to come to our church. It’s
been a great fit because the kids have loved on her kids and everyone has
welcomed her with open arms, so much so that she started coming to Bible study
for herself.
I
am preaching through Genesis and reached chapter 36 this Sunday, which is the
genealogy of Esau. It’s a chapter of unpronounceable names and talks of donkey
farmers. The Holy Spirit was there though I could tell that she was engaged
with the gospel and ready to make a decision.
I
told Jamie that she was ready and Jamie asked the Worship Pastor’s wife,
Katrina (who she has connected with) to
talk to her. She came up 20 minutes later to tell me that she had surrendered
her life to Christ. We celebrated with her and let her know we’ve all been
praying for her since the moment she came.
The
next day she let the ladies know that she had this euphoria and burden free
feeling all day because she experienced salvation.
She
had been feeling a need for community and friends and our little neighborhood
church was a perfect fit for her. It was a great encouragement to us because
everyone in the church had a hand in seeing that she heard the gospel and she
and her kids felt loved.
Pray
for Diane as Katrina and Jamie talk to her about baptism and discipleship. Also
pray for her two four-year-olds who are also hearing the gospel on a weekly
basis.
Good News Club
We are meeting at the public elementary school,
which is about a mile from our church. We started doing a club after school
where we bring snacks, play games and share the gospel each week.
Last week I gave a message about one of the
miracles of Jesus. I had four kids come back during the invitation time asking
questions about baptism. About half of the kids that come don’t go to church
anywhere.
Pray for the kids who haven’t yet surrendered their
lives to Christ and for the little guy who just lost his adoptive grandfather.
Powers Update
We love Dewey. It’s been great up
here and we have been connecting with people everywhere. We joined a gym and
have been able to meet tons of people. We’ve been able to pray with people there, invite
them to church and meals and have some really cool ministry moments.
We
recently went through a tough foster care experience that was hard on everyone
in the house. It got to the point where we couldn’t do it anymore for the
safety of the boys, even though we wanted to. We think that C (former foster
son) surrendered his life to Christ while he was at our house. Pray for them
because they both had some major issues that needed to be dealt with in a
therapeutic home. We also just found out that they moved again and this time
they were split up because they couldn’t work in the same home.
Jamie
started homeschooling which we love so much. We get to spend so much more time
with the boys.
How God Used You;
We could not do this ministry without our
team:
§ There is now a
church for young families in a city where there was not a church that was
reaching them
§ Great worship
community
§ People who
have not gone to church in years are now coming to worship Jesus
§ The gospel is
being shared weekly at the public school.
Thank You for Your Prayers!
